Hospital Associates Join Forces to Raise Money for CMN

In honor of Hospital Week, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth associates gathered with their departments to create “Kid at Heart” gift baskets for the silent auction benefiting local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals, St. Elizabeth and Jasper Memorial Hospital. On May 16, 2017, associates and hospital visitors mingled in the cafeteria while bidding on different baskets and casting their vote for their favorite. Raffle tickets were available for those willing to donate a few dollars for a chance to win a family-oriented “Get Outside and Play” gift basket donated by Human Resources and Employee Health. Congratulations to Jason Cline for winning the fun-filled raffle basket!

Guest judges, Paul Koester, Leah Durain, and Daniel Boyle (left), gave out awards for Most Creative, Most Beautiful, and Most CMN Spirit. “Each of the baskets showed how much the departments cared about rallying support for Children’s Miracle Network. It was apparent a lot of time and thought went into the displays,” says Leah, 12News Reporter and Anchor. “The hardest part was deciding between baskets that contained unique interpretations of the theme. I was glad there were two other judges there who helped me decide!” The gift basket with the most votes won Crowd Favorite and the two gift baskets that raised the most money for CMN tied for Grand Prize.

The money raised during this event will go toward helping sick and injured kids at our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth and Jasper Memorial Hospital. From funding new medical equipment to providing games and toys, we do whatever we can to make sure our kids are comfortable and well cared for during their otherwise scary hospital visit. “What an honor to be asked to play a part in the fundraiser,” adds Leah. “Emotional reactions are inevitable when you hear about the incredible work being done by Children’s Miracle Network for our Southeast Texas families. While judging a fundraiser seems like a simple gesture, I know that any and all efforts can make a difference for my neighbors in need.”

Grand Prize – OPP Surgery

Even Beaumont Bone & Joint (BBJ) got in on the fun by hosting a week-long raffle contest. They created a gift basket (right) spilling over with fun toys and goodies any kid will love! Hosting the gift basket raffle “gives us the opportunity to give to give back to the community and help children in need,” says Nicole Fenn, Manager of Business Services at BBJ. “It was fun to get patients involved.” Congratulations to Elizabeth Epperson for being the lucky winner!
