C.H.A.M.P. Meets the Press

img_6613 img_6629On June 16, the first MEDibot to be purchased in the state of Texas was introduced to children, adults, employees, and the press at CHRISTUS Hospital St. Elizabeth. C.H.A.M.P (CHRISTUS Health Associate MEDibot Pal) made quite an impression on the children and adults alike, walking around, dancing, and talking! Ashley Bares, the new Child Life Specialist, was on hand to guide the children’s interaction with C.H.A.M.P. The MEDi robot is capable of running 80 different applications and speaks 19 different languages. There are applications available for many different medical situations such as calming or distracting children during an IV start or blood test, as well as normative play applications. Dr. Tanya Beran, founder of RxRobots, launched MEDi for the specific purpose of pain and distress management during medical procedures for pediatric patients in 2014. Natalie and S.L. Greenberg, the generous donors, along with hospital staff, community members, and the press, were all in attendance
